Yeva Kafidova is young Ukrainian atsist, from Nova Kakhovka. She works predominantly with prints and drawings, using monotype prints and etchings to create her pieces. Kafidova often employs the diatype technique, a type of monotype where printing is done using the drawing method, without a press machine.
Kafidova’s art explores the human condition under traumatic experiences, the balance of war and life, as well as the consciousness and unconscious reactions to it. She examines the impact of these experiences on individuals and seeks to express them through her art. Kafidova’s works are often deeply reflective, using symbolism to communicate complex ideas and emotions, resulting in thought-provoking pieces. Her art is characterized by her use of black and white, as she feels that colour would be overwhelming for her pieces.
Often, Kafidova complements her visuals with text in the Ukrainian language, which becomes an essential part of her works, adding another layer of depth and meaning. Raised in the steppe zone of Ukraine, Kafidova often incorporates horizontal lines into her pieces as a nod to the simplicity of the landscape she observed throughout her childhood, which greatly influenced her worldview.
