Vlasov Nikita

Nikita Vlasov, born in 1977, graduated from Pridneprovsk State Academy of Construction and Architecture, Dnipro, Ukraine.  He is a multidisciplinary artist practicing in the field of graphic and object design, animation, video installations and illustration from the early 1990’s.

Since 2013, he has been working with Chinese ink, transitioning from book illustrator to large-scale graphic artist. He creates hybrid projects using spray paint  and stencils to experiment mixing graffiti and calligraphy. In his work, he focuses on thin slices of reality, imprints of the here and now paying particular attention to the philosophy and technique of drawing with Chinese ink. He is an adept of minimalism.

“Humans and Robots” is a series which reflects the development of his calligraphy art with a touch of neo-futurism. He researches the transformation of a conscious person to an object, which can be conveniently turned off and controlled. These are issues related to advertising, government manipulation, social networks and games. We look at everything through square eyes, as if through a matrix, it is very easy for us to turn the on/off switch. We are biological machines that can be programmed and reprogrammed. For most of our lives, many of us live on autopilot, unknowingly repeating certain daily rituals. We quietly shifted the function of memory to gadgets that have already become our external memory. However, a person can still reflect and fantasize, which artificial intelligence, for the moment, cannot do. This is a good loophole for a human that can still turn off the internal robot and appreciate the world with non-square eyes.

He participated in more than 20 exhibitions and projects in Ukraine and abroad. The private collectors of Ukraine, Denmark, Netherlands, Poland and the USA own his works.
